The Bauhaus Academy in Dessau, Germany has a call open for the postgraduate research Bauhaus Lab 2017: Between Chairs until the 15th of February of 2017.

The Bauhaus Lab Between Chairs (Dialogues on Craft and Design) will be held from the 16th of May until the 17th of August of 2017. The International Research Programme on Global Modernism is aimed for young professionals.

The Bauhaus Lab aims at young professionals working in the fields of design and architecture as designers, curators or researchers. The programme will run in English and the participation is free.

The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation is requesting participants to send a CV by e-mail, a portfolio and a letter of interest, in English, until the 15th of February of 2017. These documents must be sent to the programme’s director Dr. Regina Bittner at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation through the following e-mail:

Only eight participants will be selected by an international jury.

About the programme specification Bauhaus Lab 2017 the institution provided us with the following information:

“The seating combination designed in 1965 by Hans Gugelot, Professor of Design at the Ulm School of Design (HfG Ulm), in collaboration with students of the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad forms the starting point for research into transculturaldialogues on the relationship between craft and design.

Participants of the Bauhaus Lab 2017 will carry out research on location in Ulm and Ahmedabad and collectively construct an installation in the Bauhaus Dessau that updates the discussions held in the 1960’s on the ‘rediscovery of the domain of making’ (Otl Aicher).”
